I'm still having problems staying on course. I have so many points to eat each day, and I keep going over the points. I was hungry and got 2 hot dogs and buns to eat and cheese, when I clearly didn't have the points for them. It's like my hunger overrides my ability to stay within my points. I think it was easier when I was on the old points system... I may try that tomorrow. Night time is my hardest part of the day to not eat. If I could sleep early, I might not have that problem, but I just can't sleep early.
I had a very productive day today... earned $40... but have not been paid yet. Kevin is good for it though.. he is slow.
I feel good about the work I did today... can't wait to actually start getting paid for all that I do with my writing.
I need to eat small portions during the day so that I have more food at night. Wednesday I will get more strawberries so that there will be fruit for me in the daytime.

Having problems with forbidden foods
There is no bad food, but I still keep eating more of the more fattening foods than I should be eating. I need to keep my portion sizes down on everything. It's hard to stay focused when I want to eat strawberry shortcake and ice cream. I can incorporate these foods into my eating plan, but it always turns out that I am getting more calories than I need.
I need some help here. I would like to go back to weight watchers, but I'm afraid that it would be a financial burden on all of us. Not only that .. it would be difficult for Sean to get us there. We can do this by ourselves, if we have the mind to do it.

Setting my mind straight
Another thing that I will have to do is to set my mind straight. I think many of us, who are obese, tend to set ourselves up to fail in our endeavors to lose weight. We will go so far with our efforts to lose weight and then somehow we will sabotage ourselves. It's like there is some sort of stumbling block that keeps us trapped in our present state of being overweight and obese.
I have had to ask myself just exactly what is the pay-off for not losing the weight. The only pay-off I can see is that I don't have to worry about meeting people, because no one will actually notice me and want to be in a relationship with me anyway. Staying obese protects me from being hurt by the men who would come into my life. This is not a good enough reason for me to stay overweight. Life is terrible as an overweight person. It's lonely. The image I see in the mirror is way beyond what I think of as normal.
The downside of remaining obese is that I will always feel that other people (especially people of normal weight will always look down on me as a lazy person, who doesn't care how she looks. The common thought that people have is that fat people are lazy. Fat people are dumb. Fat people just don't care about themselves or anyone else. This is all a big heap of cognitive garbage, but it is how many perceive us to be.
It's abusive to keep thinking the way I was thinking about myself. It's abusive for any person to hate themselves in such a way. Imagine thinking of your best friend the way you think about yourself. Would you say you hate how your friend looks? Would you say your friend is ugly? Of course not! So why do we do this to ourselves all the time?!
It's time to stop the chain of abuse. It's time to stop it now. If I can't think or say something good about myself, I won't say anything at all. I also feel that I should point out to others when I see or hear of them putting themselves down. It's not healthy. We should be parenting ourselves like we are precious children.
A good parent would not tell their children they are fat and ugly, so we shouldn't treat ourselves that way either. It's time to stop being mean to myself and to start showing myself that I am a person to be loved, respected and cherished. We all are.

Getting back on track
I feel good inside knowing that I am making a conscious decision to get back on track and focus on my weight loss. My brother has lost 118 pounds in 15 months. I can do the same. There is no reason why I can't put my mind to the task and do it.
I tend to forget and lose focus. I get side tracked very easily, so I will need help staying focused. That is where my blogging will become a useful tool. I will stay focused if I have to report to my readers. I need a before and after picture. In fact, I think I need more than a before and after picture. I need to post pictures of me every month or so, just so that I can see from month to month what changes I have made. I'll get my daughter to take a picture of me today, just so that I have a starting point.
From today (5/15) my 13 week period ends on July 31. My goal is to have 30 pounds off in those 13 weeks. I am going to NY to see my brother in August, and I want to have those 30 pounds off before I see him.
I want to buy an outfit or two before I travel to see my brother, so I hope that I will look good with my new weight loss.

Need to Stop Floundering with my Weight Loss Attempts
I've been floundering for several months with my weight loss. I keep losing and gaining the same weight over and over. I'm not the only one doing this; my daughter is also walking in my footsteps. She has gained over 100 pounds in the last 10 years. I've managed to keep a little over a hundred pounds off since I had the gastric bypass, but I still keep losing and gaining the same 10 to 15 pounds. I had gained 70 pounds and managed to lose about 35 of those pounds, but I still have those other 35 pounds to lose, and that is what seems to be my stumbling block.
The only way I know how to help myself is to document every step of this weight loss journey I am on. I still have 133 pounds to lose to get down to 170 pounds. I don't want to lose any more weight than that, because I don't want to just be a big bag of skin. I'm afraid that will happen anyway, but if it does I will cross that bridge when I come to it. Right now, I need to set a reachable goal within a certain length of time. I have been on Weight Watchers for over a year now, but I have lost focus from time to time, so it is time to get busy.
I am setting this date (May 15, 2011) as my first day of a 13 week time span. My 5% goal for this 13 weeks is 15 pounds. My 10% goal is 30 pounds. I've got to stay focused in order to succeed. The only way I have ever found to stay focused on my weight loss journey was to write about it and share it, so I hope there are readers in cyberspace who can identify with me on my journey.
The first order of business for me is to make up my mind to be committed to losing weight. I was taught in Weight Watchers that food is not good or bad, when it comes to losing weight. However, it is up to us to stay within the allotted points we are given for each day. We are given 35 extra points to be used during the week; they can be used all at once or a little at a time. If you are going to a party, or you want to splurge one day, you can use all of those extra points, if you want to. If you use up all the points, then you have to strictly stay within your point range for the rest of the week, until you get another 35 extra points. I tend to use my points daily; I add 5 points to my allotted points each day. I am allotted 40 points, so I add an extra 5 to use up those 35 points each week. Instead of having 40 points plus to work with, I will have 45.
The next order of business for me is to keep a record of my weight. I'm no longer using the Weight Watcher's website to track my weight loss because I just can't afford the $17 a month right now. I don't have transportation to get to the meetings either, so I have to do this totally on my own. I will use a spread sheet in Excel.
I will come back and make entries to record my successes and difficulties. I will not let myself fail. I can do this. I have the ability to lose weight and be healthy again.
